Role of participating institutions

Each participating school must provide a framework for the project work (e.g. teaching load, timetable, locations for exhibitions, access to school publications,…).The schools must also provide the technical equipment for the communication among students and for the creation of a website. The heads actively support the project work: e.g. they permit student excursions, they promote interdisciplinary project work, learning in different age groups, they permit the participation in project meetings and they support the hosting of project meetings. The schools support the project teachers’ public relations work.

The participating project teachers ensure the continuing project work with the students. They communicate with the teachers of the partner schools at regular intervals. At each project meeting a detailed project plan is made and decided on, problems of cooperation are discussed and solved. International teacher teams are formed who are responsible for parts of the project work. They create tasks and collect materials (communication by email) that is sent to all the schools. This ensures an effective cooperation. All the tasks and results can be found on the project website, the central communication platform. The website offers teachers the opportunity to communicate in the teachers’ forum. There is also a “Newsletter” section where each school reports on their progress in the project work in regular intervals, so that all the participating teachers can find out what is going on in the partner schools.

The project plan aims at a regular exchange among the students in order to complete the project tasks. For this exchange the students use email or the students’ forum on the project website.

The facilitation of individual student exchanges between partner schools also increases cooperation.
